Pageant Organizers Forum Akwa Ibom State concludes Election as Meflord Asuquo and Christ Ukeme emerged President and Vice
On Tuesday, 27th August, 2024, Discovery Park agoged for the election of Pageant Organizers Forum, Akwa Ibom State.
The election which started at about 2:30pm had pageant organizers drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state to exercise their franchises for a new leadership of the forum.
Before the commencement of the election; the president emeritus; Princess Ekamma Henry called on fellow pageant organizers to exercise their franchises in peace and unity and to accept the outcome of the election as conducted by the Electoral Board Committee.
She also called on members to be unified and always be active in the Forum's activities, adding that she is convinced that the candidates are all equal to the tasks as demanded by their new offices.
She however emphasized that the sector is ours and that no one will project it on our behalf.
The election had the following candidates who aspired for various positions; Mr. Meflord Asuquo; President, Mr Raphael Emmanuel; President, Miss Christy Ukeme (Esq); Vice President, while Mfonobong Robson who aspired for the position of Publicity Secretary was unopposed as there was no other candidate aspiring for the post.
Following the announcement by the Electoral Board Committee Chairman; Mr. Samuel John; Mr Meflord Asuquo got 11 valid votes while Mr Raphael Emmanuel got 10 valid votes.
In the vice president category; Mrs. Precious Edet got 6 valid votes while her counterpart; Miss Christy Ukeme (Esq) got 15 valid votes.
After coalition of results as confirmed by agents of both presidential and vice presidential candidates; Mr. Meflord Asuquo was announced the Winner and President elect of the Forum while Christy Ukeme was announced Vice President elect.
In his thank you remark , Mr Meflord Asuquo thanked members of the forum for giving him the mandate to serve as the President and promised to run an inclusive governance where all ideas are welcomed.
The new elected executives are expected to pilot the affairs of the forum in a manner that will pleased pageant organizers in the state as well as bringing up policies that will not just take the forum to an enviable height but restructure and sensitize the pageant industry while promoting the tourism landscape of the state at large.
